Where are we headed?

Where has all the freedom gone?
Long time passing
Where has all the freedom gone?
Long time ago
Where has all the freedom gone?
Gone to the dogs everyone
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn.

This is the current state of our country. Only days ago did we encounter the abduction and the assault of the defence columnist of The Nation newspaper. His condition was serious but now he is on his way to recovery.

The country or rather the world has come to a stage where a journalist let alone anyone cannot express their opinion freely without being assaulted or shot at. There is so much corruption and the horrific woes of the victims are endless. The "White Van" syndrome has caused so much fear among the masses which has overturned into a perversion. No one watches the other persons back anymore. It is a rat race out there. You are alone in a society reeking with the stench of red tape, bureaucracy and most importantly a ruling class filled with dirt.

Even the little person down there who tries to make a difference is bogged down by the scum that exists in society. There is no more evident pride of being a Sri Lankan. Once such a vibrant country now a hellhole. The cliched statement goes on "Why dont the youth of the country stand up and do something?" But are we allowed to do so?Not without being bumped off,lik a peice of jelly. It is such a sad state of affairs. President George Bush Sr once said, "I will never apologize for the United States of America. I dont care what the facts are". [extracted from the chapter, The Loneliness of Noam Chomsky, from An ordinary persons guide to empire by Arundhati Roy]. This is similar of the situation in Sri Lanka. No one seems to be interested in standing up for the country. What does our president do?..and the Answer Is...................... FUCK ALL!!!. Except for the little development projects he starts with various countries. God knows where they will take us.

We talk of democracy but with hipocracy.

What we really need is a "guru of love" to induce the art of love in the hearts of our people.

You are right. Love conquers all...
but where does one start ? I guess at each one's home and circle of influence (I'm reading 7 habbits of highly effective people by Stephen Covey.. top book!!)
We are surely heading somewhere and at some point somethings gotto break... till then.. the muck keeps building up..
