Body Odour at the Workplace

We all sweat,it is a natural mechanism of the body, but unfortunately tends to emit an unpleasant smell, that we call body odour. Some people have no visible odour at all, while for some it is a cocktail of garlic and other condiments. This odour stays with you and it becomes your signature statement.

In a workplace setting, if someone with bad body odour passes your cubicle, you at once know who the person is. Why? because that odour is the person's signature. It is however important to know, that the odour differs from individual to individual.

In an office, a breath of fresh air is needed most often because you encounter different kinds of odour. Some bearable and some just repulsive. Some of us Sri Lankans have this bad habit of bathing our selves with colonge eventhough we are sweating like pigs. This adds to the flavour and increases the discomfort and suffering that most of us try to hide just out of sheer politeness.

Unshaven armpits- a critical causal factor of bad body odour. 'lets leave it at that'.

Oh, but the bus takes the cake. Imagine standing with your face buried in a fellow passenger's armpit which is sweaty and dirty after a hot solid day of work. The fight or flight mechanism kicks in, but sometimes there is no apparent escape. All you can do is picture fresh green meadows, with black and white cows grazing in those luscious fields. It is a mixture of garlic, turmeric, curry powder and vinegar all put together out of proportion. You gasp for breath, you drown in the wallows of smelliness.

There is also another category of employees who after a refreshing shower in the morning, literally pours half a deodorant bottle on them selves. Maybe to attract the ladies or vice versa? The flipside of the story is that the effect most often goes 'poof' by mid day.

And...you begin to stink.

Wearing deodorant is only nice but you have to use it wisely. Powder is also another option.

So, all you guys and girls, working or unemployed please, please, please, wear your deodorant, and when you bathe, do pay extra attention to your genitals, and other sweat collecting points of the body, soap em all.

Fresh air is hard to come by these days, very scarce.

So, help save the environment, keep your self clean and smell free.

Cheers.
